They say “Never trust an elf!”.
Well, I certainly don’t trust that Sam Wolfe. I think he might have something to do with my daughter’s kidnapping. He just happened to pull out a picture of the man who likely is the father of my missing daughter and he knew about my hospital visit 7 years ago. He also made me jump off of my motorcycle using mind magic instead of just warning me to stop riding toward the crashing plane via commlink. Then when he levitated me through the wreckage. I’m sure he banged me off of some debris and rubble on purpose. Sure it was just a couple of bruises, but each bruise reduces the tips I get when dancing. If we hadn’t been doing a job with my daughter’s life on the line I would have killed Sam when he said:
“Sitara, bacteria is the only culture you have.”
The rest of the group seems easy enough to manipulate. Just follow the words of Monica Gallagher – “Always leave them wanting more” – and people will follow you anywhere. I didn’t tell them anything about the mission, or the pay, and they followed me. Just like I knew they would.
But in the end, they did help out, and didn’t even complain about the lack of pay. Perhaps, in time, I can learn to trust them enough to let them in on the truth. Well, all except for the elf.
You just can’t trust them!
