When I do a favour for a friend, it’s always gonna be a problem. But Little Tony helps me out when I need something fixed, so I couldn’t say no. He said to bring my “friends” along, so I figure there must be some money in it.
We went out to Puyallup to see Tony (except Mazula, he was working). It turned out that the problem was his daughter Clarisse. Her new chum was some local ganger called “Rock Salt”. Sacrament, I thought, what do we know about teenage girls? And where’s the money going to come from?

Everything he knows about teenage girls, he learned while living in his mother’s basement…

The only lead we had to Clarisse was her mall-rat friends. We couldn’t figure out how to get them to talk to us, until we realized we didn’t have to – they never stopped talking to each other. So we sent Trog to ask them about Clarisse. They shot him down (he looked désolé – I’m not sure he understood the plan) but that got them chattering and Hirito overheard something about the Rockers – a local gang – and that trid star who got arrested with a pocket full of BTL chips. Clarisse started hanging out with another gang to get back at them somehow.
We tracked the gangers to that junkyard that used to sell motorcycle parts, but they all went marching out just when we got there. I sent one of my ‘ti-mecs to keep an eye on them while we searched the place. We found a “dear-john” from Clarisse – now she’s gone over to the Rockers. Ostie de plotte!
And guess where Rock Salt and his boys were headed? Straight to the Rockers house. When the fighting started, my drone picked up a girl’s scream. Stupid girl, didn’t she know what would happen?
We piled into the Bulldog and went after Clarisse. The fight was in full swing when we got there. Trog bashed in the front door like it was nothing, but the rest of us were pinned down in the front yard. There were a couple dozen guys inside – a lot more trouble than I was expecting.
Things went downhill pretty quick. Trog went down. Clarisse took a load of buckshot. Hirito tried to carry her out, but he couldn’t even lift her. Finally Sam called his big wolf spirit – it held off the gangers and carried Clarisse out. Then he summoned another spirit to drag Trog to the van. (He was only stunned – that’s one tough troll.) Turns out his magic is good for something after all.
As I drove off, the Rockers killed Rock Salt, and the Long Pig arrived to clean up the Rockers and take whatever they left behind.
We patched up Clarisse but she didn’t seem too grateful for the rescue. (I did see her eyeing the cout’oreille – maybe I should mention that to Little Tony.) At least she didn’t tell her father how we let her get shot up.
Anyway, it turns out that Tony’s gratitude is worth something after all. Apparently, getting rid of Rock Salt’s gang was a big deal in Puyallup, and Tony is taking up a collection for our “expenses”. Good thing, since we didn’t manage to grab the Rockers’ stash. The cops got that, I guess.
Bon, everyone has to make a living…
